do you hate your job – motivation and success or the reverse?

I read the other day that more than 1/2 of Kiwi’s hate their jobs. Hate! That’s a pretty toxic emotion. Even worse was the fact that of these 1 in 5 was a senior manager. No wonder leadership in this country is woefully lacking.

A manager of one large Govt organisation I contract to said he’d readily leave if he could get the same money somewhere else. Truth is he never will. So he will stay and continue to infect his direct report, customers and other senior managers with his negative, aggressive, “I don’t care” attitude.

Too many people, the article said, are just going through the motions. I’d take this a step further and say too many people are being allowed to go through the motions – it’s time to start looking at how to reengage or move on disengaged employees.

A strategy I favour and have success with is using career development as a change agent – the goal being to help them find a happier home. Next stop, active management because odds are if they are unhappy at work their performance will be off colour too

Get happy at work now!

Would you like to wake up every day looking forward to going to work? Do you want a job that is in harmony with your passions, values and deepest interests? Do you want a job that is deeply rewarding and gives you a sense of meaning and purpose? That allows you to be who you truly are and who you truly want to be?

If you’ve ever thought, “I could do anything if I only knew what it was“, yearned for more passion, or struggled to get a job click here to get the edge
